St Chad’s School enjoys a varied and rich liturgical life to celebrate the important moments in our daily lives and the church’s year.

The school aims to nurture and support the faith development of the children by involving them in regular Liturgy and prayer. Each year the students are given the opportunity to celebrate a number of whole School Masses, as well as class Masses at St Chad’s Church. Students who have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation are given the opportunity to participate in this sacrament on an occasion during the school year.

Features of our Masses and Liturgies include the appropriate involvement of the students through the various ministries, including writing the Penitential and Intercession Prayers as well as music and singing.

The School Community has the opportunity to celebrate a number of Masses throughout the year including All Saints Day, The Epiphany, St Chad’s Feast Day, The Ascension of the Lord, and St Peter and St Paul Feast Day. Each class celebrates at least two special liturgies throughout the year, the first being their class saint’s feast day, which parents and carers are invited to join and the other a feast day in the liturgical life of the church, which they lead the school in. In addition, every class prepares and celebrates a liturgy at the end of each Come and See topic.

In October and May, children and staff have the opportunity to pray the Rosary and during Lent, the opportunity to follow the Way of the Cross.

Staff members take an active role in the preparation of Masses and Liturgies, and they further enhance their own spirituality by coming together to share a liturgy at the beginning of every Inset and prayers, whenever they gather.

Prayer and classroom Liturgies are also a part of who we are at St Chad’s, with teachers and students engaging in prayer on a daily basis as well as deepening their faith and spirituality through their learning experiences in the Religious Education Curriculum.

The school strives to integrate the values displayed and spoken by Jesus in the Gospels into the life of the school, with the aim that all members of St Chad’s Catholic School will integrate faith into their life and understand their role as Christian disciples.
